Congregational Leadership
Certificate Program
|
The Congregational Leadership Certificate Program provides an opportunity to better prepare for Christian service in a congregational setting. The certificate program involves information, formation, and critical reflection in four core courses and three courses in a focused field of interest. A BTSR Certificate of Congregational Leadership is awarded upon completion of the seven courses. However, you may take one or more courses in any specialized ministry area, including core courses, without declaring a particular certificate Specialized Ministry concentration. Anyone, regardless of educational background, may enroll in the certificate program.
The first course begins September 10, 2007. You may enter the program any time a course is offered. Enrollment is open until one week before a course begins. The cost is $150 per certificate course. Scholarships are available to cover 50% of tuition. You may download a scholarship application at the bottom of this page.
All certificate program courses are offered via the Internet and the Blackboard™ course management system; therefore, participants must have access to a computer and to the Internet.

Core courses provide a theological foundation that will prepare you to be a leader in your congregation. Those seeking to earn the certificate take either Baptist Identity or The Church—A System of Relationships and the other three core courses. See course descriptions.

Gift-based Ministry courses help you understand the theology and application of spiritual gifts in ministry. In these courses you will explore practical, effective ways to develop individuals for leadership roles and functions; examine issues of Christian calling, spiritual gifts, and the mission of the church; and investigate the role of laypersons in ministry.
