The Solon B. Cousins Lectures

Held each October, these lectures bring outstanding scholars to the seminary campus each year for discourse on Biblical and theological issues. Past lecturers have included such scholars as Dr. Walter Brueggemann of Columbia Theological Seminary.

Our Cousin Lecturer this year is the Reverend Dr. Allan Boesak, the anti-apartheid South African Church leader and theologian.  Dr. Boesak gained international recognition in 1986 when he declared that apartheid was an heresy, and that any form of injustice will not have a permanent dwelling place in the house of God.  He has inspired a large segment of the South African population, and many have found a new identity in the Christian faith under his leadership.  A little over a year ago, BTSR lecture and convocation committee invited Dr. Boesak to give the lecture series this year.
