Our Student Body
Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond is distinctively Baptist, yet welcoming to Christians of all denominational backgrounds. In addition to a diverse collection of Baptists, the following denominations are represented among our study body: African Methodist Episcopal, Anglican, Assemblies of God, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Churches of Christ, Churches of God, Episcopal, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, and Methodist.
Students come to BTSR from Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, and West Virginia. BTSR has also drawn students from Brazil, China, Columbia, Estonia, Ghana, Hungary, India, Iran, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Liberia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, Slovakia, and the Ukraine.
BTSR students range in age from 21 to 68; 48% are less than 30 years old; 30% are between 30 and 49 years of age; and 22% are 50 or older. Fifty-two percent of BTSR students are female and 88% are Anglo.
Faculty and Staff
BTSR benefits from the diversity of its faculty and staff who come from a dozen states and four countries other than the US. Their educational backgrounds are even more diverse as they hold degrees from 48 colleges, universities, divinity schools, and seminaries from 16 states and four countries in addition to the US.
