Learn more about our courses in Pastoral Leadership Ministry

Web-based Pastoral Ministry Leadership courses help you build a strong foundation for pastoring a congregation.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how to prepare and deliver a sermon.
  • Examine leadership and management in congregations.
  • Learn how to use demographic resources to better understand ministry needs in your community.

Engage in thought-provoking Q&A and discussion with class members and the instructor via threaded discussion forums

Course Information

Three courses are offered:

Introduction to Preaching (SCM 8110)
Learn the foundational elements of preaching. Develop a process for preparing and delivering sermons. Increase your awareness of different types of sermons. Explore helpful resources for sermon preparation and delivery. Dates: January 14 – February 10, 2008

The Effective Church Leader (SCM 8120)
Explore the principles and practices of congregational leadership and management. Understand the role of the congregational leader in relation to the function of leadership, administration, problem analysis, and decision making. Dates: February 25 – March 22, 2008

Social Dynamics in Ministry (SCM 8130)
Learn how to find and use demographic resources to gain an understanding of the community where you wish to begin a new work or add to an existing work. Identify resources that can help you interpret and use the data found. Develop a ministry plan that identifies who, what, where, when, and how a ministry can best be approached in the selected area or community. Dates: April 7 – May 4, 2008

Time & Location: The online course materials and discussion forums are Internet-based and accessible anytime, from anywhere.

Cost: $150 per course (Scholarships are available to cover 50% of tuition fees.)
