Learn

Our purpose at BTSR is to provide advanced theological education and training for effective leadership in the various ministries of the church for those men and women who are called and committed to Christian ministry. To that end we offer you a rich variety of opportunities through our curricular programs.

The Master of Divinity degree at BTSR will prepare you for a variety of ministry opportunities. With its three emphases you will learn and grow in critical areas of ministerial leadership. With the emphasis on spiritual formation you will be challenged to grow in discernment of your calling and in your faith. Through the emphases on congregational ministry and global missions you will gain an understanding of, and appreciation for, the various contexts in which the Church works out its calling to be the Body of Christ. From the beginning of your studies you will be led to reflect on your Christian experience and call to ministry as you participate in formal theological education.

The required core courses will help you master the biblical, historical, and theological foundations of the Christian faith which are the basis for the practice of ministry. Other required courses facilitate the development of competencies in practical domains of ministry. Through free electives, you can focus your studies to match your own interests and gifts, including the option to complete one of four concentrations, a doctorate in ministry (D.Min.), and two dual degree programs. Throughout the process, you will engage with professors and peers in theological reflection on all you experience and learn in preparation for your own unique ministry in the Christian community.

If you are called to serve, and ready to answer that call through learning, training, and preparation, we are here to help you live out that calling. Explore the options available through our degree programs.
