Master of Divinity (M.Div)

The Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree prepares students for a variety of ministries. As a student in the program, you will reflect on your Christian experience and call to ministry, consider the nature of theological education, and strengthen your spiritual resources. In required courses, you will become acquainted with the biblical, historical, and theological foundations of the Christian faith as the basis for the practice of ministry. In other required courses, you will develop competencies in several areas of ministry. Through free electives, you will be encouraged to focus your preparation by exploring your own interests and gifts, and you will have the option to complete one of four concentrations. Throughout the entire program, you will engage in theological reflection on all you experience and learn as preparation for your own unique ministry in the Christian community.

The M.Div degree requires completion of 30 course credits with a minimum of a ā€œCā€ (2.0) average. These course credits include 22 credits of required work, so approximately one third of the degree is open for electives or a concentration. A BTSR course credit is equivalent to three semester hours, or five quarter hours of graduate-level work.

The Master of Divinity is a three-year program, but many students choose to take four years to complete it.
