The
Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Education Formation equips students to become effective pastoral educators in congregations. The degree has a congregational focus; yet it is grounded in theology and the field of education. Graduates are well rounded in their understanding and practice of holistic educational ministry along with faith and spiritual formation in the local church. Students are challenged to connect theory to practice through critical reflection on both their own personal development and the practice of educational ministry.
The core requirements for the M. Div include one elective in Christian Education. This concentration requires the completion of an additional seven credits in Christian Education Formation, which are listed in the program of study outline below. With the permission of the Professor of Christian Education, the student may also choose to submit a thesis project for up to three credits.
