. . . because of its outstanding faculty, its ecumenical cooperation, and its commitment to responsible scholarship. I also found BTSR to be very aware and responsive of the student's need for practical ministry skills and supportive community.

Class of 2006
Associate Pastor of Outreach & Worship, First Baptist Church of Topeka, KS

From the moment I first visited BTSR's campus, I immediately felt a part of the BTSR community. The close-knit community combined with a healthy balance of academic challenges and practical preparation for church ministry made BTSR my seminary of choice.

Class of 2011

With its historic roots, stable biblical foundation, and strong partnership ideals, BTSR stood out as a model moderate Baptist school in my eyes. I also wanted a close-knit community that was not necessarily tied to any undergraduate or graduate institution. I found all of those things at BTSR. I believe BTSR gave me a firm foundation of theological education with which to engage the world in wholesome and holistic ways. Thank you BTSR for ministering to me so that I can minister to the world!

Class of 2007
Field Personnel, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Southeast Asia

. . .  because of the ecumenical connection with the Richmond Theological Consortium, access to the William Smith Morton Library, and excellent reputation of the faculty. If I had to pick a seminary again, I would choose BTSR again.

Matthew Tennant
Class of 2007
D.Phil. student at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom

. . . because of the theological education offered, in a such a warm spiritual, intellectual, and philosophical environment. Being a native Richmonder, born and raised in the very immediate area of BTSR, coming to this school felt like "coming home". God's plan for my life in ministry, has been enhanced, influenced, and encouraged by the seminary.

As an Army chaplain candidate, I wanted to attend a distinctively Baptist seminary with a reputation for academic excellence; a seminary that emphasized real-world, ecumenically focused, theological training. My time at BTSR has been all I expected and more. Approaching graduation, I am grateful for the ways I have been mentored, encouraged, and challenged to fulfill God’s calling in my life. I am truly grateful I chose BTSR.

Michael J. O’Rourke Jr.,
Moderator, Student Government Association
Class of 2009

. . . because after my first visit, the people of BTSR exuded who they were as colleagues who would stretch me as a student, as professors who would guide me as mentors, and as friends who would be witnesses to my call as a woman in ministry. The wonderment of this is that it was through their actions not their words!
