ACTING DIRECTORS NAMED FOR DOCTOR OF MINISTRY AND SUPERVISED MINISTRY PROGRAMS

Richmond, VA- Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (BTSR) names acting directors to fill roles vacated by Dr. Tracy Hartman as she assumes the post of Acting Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean on June 1, 2017.

Dr. Art Wright will serve as Acting Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program effective June 1, 2017. Wright currently serves as Affiliate Professor of Spirituality and New Testament and will hold both posts for the upcoming academic year. Wright holds a B.A. from Averett University and a M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education. He also holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Union Presbyterian Seminary. He began teaching at BTSR in 2011 and has taught a wide variety of courses in the New Testament, Greek, and Spirituality areas of study. He has published a number of essays and articles on the Gospels and the Roman imperial context of the New Testament and serves on the editorial board of the Review and Expositor journal and the steering committee for the New Testament section of the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion. Dr. Wright stays active in Baptist life in Richmond and serves on staff part-time at Tabernacle Baptist Church as their Minister of Spiritual Formation.

Also effective June 1, Susan Blanchard assumes the role of Acting Director of the Supervised Ministry Program. Blanchard holds a B.S. from Radford University, a M.A.C.E. from Presbyterian School of Christian Education, and a M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary. She served as a Baptist campus minister at University of Mary Washington from 1998 to 2004. She is an ordained minister and has taught practicum groups for BTSR since 2011. Blanchard joined the permanent staff at BTSR in 2012 as the Student Services Manager and was promoted to Registrar and Director of Financial Aid in 2015. She previously served as Interim Director of the Supervised Ministry program during Dr. Hartman’s sabbatical throughout the 2015-2016 academic year. She will continue in her role as Registrar and Director of Financial Aid, in addition to serving as Acting Director of the Supervised Ministry Program.
